Mirror Tree is the debut Self-Titled single of the project, in many ways it represents a return for artist Michael Gold. In the early 2010s Michael toured and wrote with the band Poolside, including co-writing one of their biggest hits “Feel Alright.” After a hiatus from the touring life to move to Alaska and pursue his passion for flying airplanes in remote corners of the world, Michael returned to Los Angeles and reconnected with his old bandmate Filip Nikolic from his time with Poolside. Together they began writing and recording new music and from there, Mirror Tree was officially born with Gold as the main writing force and Nikolic as producer. While the sound of the single Mirror Tree and second single 300 Miles is Michael’s unique take on synthesizer and psychedelic music, the structure and backbone of the songwriting is rooted in 1960s and 70’s pop, giving the songs a structured feeling and choruses to sing along to. Mirror Tree is a journey through many worlds of musical style and lyric sentiment that leave the listener with a deep emotional link to faraway places.
